Washington Good Standing Certificate (Washington Certificate of Existence) is issued by the Washington Secretary of State
and is often required for loans, to renew
business licenses, or for tax or other business purposes in the state of Washington or in any other state. A Washington Certificate of Good Standing
verifies that your Washington Corporation or Washington LLC is in Existence, is authorized to transact business in
the state of Washington, and complies with all state of Washington
requirements and therefore is in "Good Standing" in the state of Washington (WA).
Also known as a Washington Certificate of Existence, a
Washington Certificate of Status or a Washington Certificate of Authority, the Washington Good Standing
Certificate is a one page document provided by the Washington Secretary of State and is conclusive
evidence of the existence of your Washington Corporation or Washington LLC. In most cases a Washington Certificate of Good Standing
can be valid up to three months.
To obtain a Washington Good Standing Certificate
(Washington Certificate of Existence), your company must
be registered as a legal entity with the Washington Secretary of State, i.e., your company is in existence
in the state of Washington, and cannot be in default of Washington corporate rules, or suspended by the state of Washington.

Foreign Qualifications

Many companies require a Washington Good Standing Certificate (Washington Certificate of Existence) to qualify as a
"Foreign Corporation" in a state other than Washington.
A Foreign Corporation is a corporation that is registered in one state and has the Authority to do business in another state.
For example, a corporation registered in the state of California that plans to do business in the state of Washington is a "Foreign Corporation"
in the state of Washington.

Most states require you to register as a Foreign Corporation in order to do business in their state.
In order to register as a Foreign Corporation, you must prove that you are registered in another state as a domestic
Corporation, and you usually have to prove this with a state Certificate of Good Standing (Certificate of Existence/Certificate of Authority).
