the Washington Secretary of State and is often required for loans, to renew business licenses, or for tax or other business

Certificate of Authority, the Washington Good Standing
Certificate is a one page document which looks like a letter and bears the seal of the state of Washington
Secretary of State or another Washington state agency if the Washington Secretary of State is not the issuing authority.
A Washington Good Standing Certificate is provided by the Washington Secretary of State and is conclusive evidence of the
existence of your Washington business franchise - your Washington Corporation or Washington LLC.
In most cases a Washington Certificate of Good Standing can be valid up to
three months.
To obtain a Washington Good Standing Certificate (Washington Certificate of

If you own a Washington business and have not formed a Corporation, LLC, Partnership or other legal entity in the state of Washington,
then you are a Sole Proprietor by default.
Nothing needs to be filed with the Washington Secretary of State to create a Sole Proprietorship.
If you plan to use a name different from your first and last name then you would register in the Washington county in which you do business
with your first and last name "Doing Business As" (DBA) the name of your business (for example: Sue Smith, DBA Sue's Washington Business).
A Washington Good Standing Certificate (Washington Certificate of Existence) is
issued by the Washington Secretary of State for business entities that have registered with the state of Washington.
A Sole Proprietorship or DBA is not normally registered with the Washington Secretary of State so a
Washington Certificate of Good Standing cannot be issued for them.
