A North Carolina Certificate of Good Standing is often required for loans, to renew business licenses or for tax purposes.  A North Carolina Good Standing Certificate verifies that your organization complies with requirements of the North Carolina Secretary of State and therefore is in "Good Standing".  Also known as a Certificate of Existence or a Certificate of Status, the Good Standing Certificate is a one page document provided by the North Carolina Secretary of State and is conclusive evidence of the formation of your business.  In most cases it can be valid up to three months.

To obtain a North Carolina Good Standing Certificate, your company must be registered as a legal entity with the North Carolina Secretary of State, and cannot be in default of corporate rules, or suspended by the State of North Carolina.
