Certificate of Authority, the Nevada Good Standing
Certificate is a one page document which looks like a letter and bears the seal of the state of Nevada
Secretary of State or another Nevada state agency if the Nevada Secretary of State is not the issuing authority.
A Nevada Good Standing Certificate is provided by the Nevada Secretary of State and is conclusive evidence of the
existence of your Nevada business franchise - your Nevada Corporation or Nevada LLC.
In most cases a Nevada Certificate of Good Standing can be valid up to
three months.
To obtain a Nevada Good Standing Certificate (Nevada Certificate of

If you own a Nevada business and have not formed a Corporation, LLC, Partnership or other legal entity in the state of Nevada,
then you are a Sole Proprietor by default.
Nothing needs to be filed with the Nevada Secretary of State to create a Sole Proprietorship.
If you plan to use a name different from your first and last name then you would register in the Nevada county in which you do business
with your first and last name "Doing Business As" (DBA) the name of your business (for example: Sue Smith, DBA Sue's Nevada Business).

issued by the Nevada Secretary of State for business entities that have registered with the state of Nevada.
A Sole Proprietorship or DBA is not normally registered with the Nevada Secretary of State so a
Nevada Certificate of Good Standing cannot be issued for them.
