An Appurtenance is something that goes along with something else, or is an accessory to something else. Appurtenance is often used in Property transfers to refer to things like an outbuilding or fixture, or certain rights that go along with the Property, such as easements, that pass when transferring the main Property.
An Appurtenance is a right, privilege or improvement belonging to, and passing with, the land.
Common Appurtenances to land include barns, outhouses, fences, drainage and irrigation ditches, and rights of way.
