What is a Servitude

A Servitude is a right that a person has over the immovable Property of another.  The right of Servitude is registered with the agency responsible for recording Propery Deeds and usually is specified in the Property Deed for a specific Property.

The right of Servitude allows the holder to do something with the property of another person which could infringe upon the rights of the owner of that Property.  An example of Servitudeis the right of way to travel over the property of another person in order to reach a different Property.

When a Property with a Servitude changes hands the Servitude will have to be honored by the purchaser of the Property.
