What is a Registered Agent?
States require that corporations and LLCs appoint a Registered Agent. A Registered Agent is an individual or an entity with a physical address (not a P.O. Box) located in the state where the company is formed. This agent is in charge of receiving all official documents such as legal proceedings and franchise tax forms.
